About our handmade and bespoke upholstery
At sitting pretty interiors we have painstakingly designed our individual range of upholstery, not only making sure that our upholstery looks great, but remembering the fundamentals of upholstery “comfort & longevity”.
At the heart of each piece of upholstery you will find a kiln dried, solid beech frame, using timber from sustainable harvested forests, dowelled, glued and screwed, to ensure strength and longevity. The legs are hand turned or hand carved in wonderful woods including mahogany, walnut, rosewood and cherry.
Every piece of traditional furniture is made using only the finest natural materials, our master craftspeople are skilled in traditional methods handed down from master to apprentice. All seats, backs and where possible, arms are sprung using individual coil springs, traditionally hand stitched to the finest old English webbing, covered and hand stitched to the finest hessian, hair is applied and we finish with 100% cotton or wool padding, for unsurpassed comfort, we only use the finest duck (50%) and down (50%) feather cushion fills as standard, but as our generations before us we have continued to move with technological developments, creating improved upholstery practices for use in our contemporary Handmade furniture.
Sitting pretty’s master craftsmen have meticulously calculated all of the dimensions for our handmade upholstery, ensuring the perfect seat height and depth, our backs are designed to achieve perfect lumber and head support, shaped to accommodate your shoulders, but of course all of our dimensions, can be bespoke, we can make the arm 2” longer for you, make the back higher the seat deeper or lower, simply hand craft the chair or sofa to your requirements.
